Speedboat to Orange Bay + Dolphin Watch

4.9(308+)·4h·Hurghada

The Orange Bay speedboat day with the dolphins put first. Instead of hoping the captain happens to pass a pod on the way, this trip goes out to find them. Our captains are on this water every day and know which stretches the pods have been using that week, so the boat heads for wherever the dolphins have actually been rather than a fixed spot on a map, and takes the time to search properly. Dolphins are seen on the large majority of these trips. When the pod is calm and curious, and only then, the crew will stop the engine and let you slip quietly into the water to swim near them. Nobody chases, feeds, corrals or touches a dolphin. They are wild animals in their own home and they decide how close the encounter gets, which is exactly why the good encounters happen at all. After the dolphin search the day continues as our normal speedboat trip: two reef snorkeling stops over the Giftun coral gardens, then a long stretch on Orange Bay island to swim the lagoon, walk the boardwalks and ride the famous beach swings. It runs the same two daily slots as our standard speedboat day, morning or afternoon, and takes the same four hours door to door; the difference is what the boat does with that time. It runs the same two daily slots as our standard speedboat day, morning or afternoon, and takes the same four hours door to door; the difference is what the boat does with that time. The boat is yours alone, up to eight guests, at one flat price of 160 euros however many of you come. The Orange Bay island entrance fee of 10 euros per person is paid separately on the island, as it is on every trip that lands there.

We never chase, feed or touch them, and we keep our distance if they are resting or have calves.

    Two reef snorkeling stops

30 to 45 minutes each over the Giftun coral gardens. Mask, snorkel and fins handed out on board.

Frequently asked questions

Very likely, but no honest operator can promise a wild animal. Our captains are out here every day and know where the pods have been feeding and resting, and we find them on the large majority of these trips. This trip is built around searching for them properly rather than hoping to pass them, which is why it costs more than the standard speedboat day. If the pod does not show, the rest of the program runs in full.
Sometimes, and only on the dolphins' terms. If the pod is relaxed, curious and comes toward the boat, the crew stops the engine and lets you slip quietly into the water nearby. If the dolphins are resting, feeding or have young calves with them, we keep our distance and watch from the boat. We never chase, corral, feed or touch them.
There is no single fixed spot. The pods move, so our captains go by where they have actually been seen in the days before your trip. Being on this water every day is the whole advantage: the boat heads for the dolphins rather than for a place on a map, which is why this trip finds them as often as it does.
160 euros flat for the whole speedboat, whatever your group size up to eight guests. The Orange Bay island entrance fee of 10 euros per person is separate and paid on the island itself, the same as on every trip that lands there.
Same boat, same two slots, same four hours. The difference is the priority. On the standard 150 euro day the captain heads for the reefs and detours for dolphins only if the timing happens to work. On this one the dolphins come first: the boat goes to wherever the pods have been that week and takes real time to search, with an in-water encounter when they are willing, and the reef stops and island time fit around that. If the dolphins are the reason you are booking, this is the one.
Snacks, fresh fruit, soft drinks and water are included. A full lunch is not. There are places to eat on Orange Bay island, or most guests eat at their hotel after the trip.
Yes. The 160 euro price is flat for the whole boat, so children cost nothing extra within your group of eight. We recommend ages 6 and up because of the speed and the motion. Children pay the 10 euro island entrance fee; infants do not.
No. Life jackets are on board and you can stay in one for both the reef stops and any dolphin encounter. Tell the guide if you are not confident in the water and they will stay near you.
Swimwear, a towel, reef-safe sunscreen, sunglasses and a hat. An underwater camera is worth it on this trip. Everything else, including snorkeling gear, is on the boat.
Cash or card to the crew on the day of the trip. No payment online and no card needed to book. The island entrance fee is paid separately on Orange Bay.

    Whole boat to ourselves

The speedboat was worth it — the whole boat to ourselves and we saw dolphins on the way out. Two snorkeling stops and loads of time on the island. The captain was a legend.

    Rapide et privé

Bateau rapide rien que pour nous, des dauphins à l’aller et une eau turquoise incroyable. Deux arrêts snorkeling et retour à l’hôtel avant le déjeuner. Parfait.

    Lancha divertida

Lancha só para nós, rápida e divertida. Vimos golfinhos e a água é espetacular. Só faltou um pouco mais de sombra no barco.
